When faced with the decision to spend possibly hundreds of pounds on a burglar alarm system many of us , myself included, have no doubt wondered whether a dummy alarm box will do the job instead.

The main advantage of dummy alarm boxes is they look so realistic, with the real company logo and telephone number on the front, plus little flashing lights, adding to the authentic look.

Will it be enough to deter the would-be intruder from choosing to burgle my property or not? That's for you, the reader to decide.

After all, there are lots of positives with the dummy alarm. There are no ongoing maintainance costs, you'll never have one of those annoying false alarms which seem so prevalent nowadays, and nobody I know, takes any notice of them anyway. People tend to assume when they hear a home alarm that it's a false alarm anyway.
